We got this pillow when our baby boy was almost 3 months old after a friend who is a physical therapist played with our baby and said he had severe congenital plagiocephaly and torticollis. We had always noticed the flatness on the right side of his head but didn’t think too much about it until our friend emphasized how he might have to wear a helmet which is a major inconvenience and can be uncomfortable... so we went to the pediatrician who said it might correct itself but referred us to a physical therapist. I also ordered this pillow. Repositioning seemed impossible when he slept, because he always moved back to the right side. This pillow alleviated our anxiety since it dispersed the pressure, though we still tried our best to reposition. We went to two physical therapy sessions where they taught us neck stretches and creative tummy time exercises (you can also find these online in pdf handouts on some healthcare websites). After a month of a combination of these exercises, always carrying him in a carrier instead of the car seat and stroller, and using this pillow every single night and on the changing table, his head measurements have greatly improved... not perfect but no longer in the range needing a helmet! Hope we can keep it up, but he started to roll off the pillow and kick around just last week.. so we now only use it on the changing table and splurged on a dockatot for sleeping and still reposition. We also got a boppy noggin for his car seat. He’s more and more aware of things now at 4 months so the repositioning techniques with toys (putting them on the side you want him to turn to) works a bit better now.
So basically, this pillow wasn’t a miracle for us, but definitely helped with a combination of other things! Probably best for 0-4 months. I will use it for my next baby and buy it for friends at their baby showers!
